I took the wife and kids camping over the Thanksgiving weekend up in the Eastern Sierra Mountain Range to photograph some deer on the winter range. Only saw one "good" buck and a lot of management type deer.
This is a pretty awesome non-typical for the Golden State:
Not a bad 4x4...
I'm in Arizona bowhunting deer and spotted this bobcat yesterday morning. After a long stalk, I was able to sneak in on him........one arrow later he was mine. These low desert cats are really red/gray in the area.
Last weekend I drove a few miles from my desert home and did some predator calling......archery style. On my second stand location, this dog came in to 12 yards! One arrow dropped him where he stood. If you look closely, you can see my call (FoxPro Spitfire) under the tree beyond where he's...
My hunting partner's (Fred) bull elk that I stopped cold with a sweet cow call at 44 yards this morning. One more in our party to fill a tag (Wally).....two days to get it done.
Arrowed this bull in AZ at 33 yards as he was raking a tree. One of the biggest bodied elk I've shot......about 750 lbs. G&F estimated his age to be about 8.5years old.......just an old freaky, stinky bull. Still in Arizona helping my hunting partners on their hunts by calling and looking at...
Traveled up to Northern California to chase some thunderbirds with some buddies. I ended up arrowing a bird Saturday and another on Sunday. Both had 9" beards and 1" spurs. It was good times for sure.

Here's one my hunting partner arrowed last year in Los Angeles County......this was a big bear. I'll have to dig up a photo of a bear I arrowed in the 90's.
Love calling coyotes into bow range.......here's a few I've recently arrowed here in the Southern California desert near my home. Probably head out tomorrow morning for a little calling action. I agree, great way to have some off-season fun.
Here's a few California Mule Deer I photographed in the Eastern Sierra Mountain Range over the Thanksgiving weekend. Some really good bucks for the Golden State.
My son's (Cody) Blacktail (hybird) arrowed this past weekend.......still another tag to go for him, so he's looking for a bigger one. One arrow from 35 yards did the trick.
It's me.......Roy. I e-mailed you a photo of Brad's CA antelope he got last week......he finally got drawn.
Big change in plans......I turned in my CO deer tag and am heading to AZ to hunt Coues whitetail with a guy I know from P&Y. He's a guide and is going to take me for about 5 days to...
My hunting partner (Fred) drew one of the most coveted tags in the Golden State.......an archery Tule Elk tag. After spending a full week of scouting before the opener, he was able to pattern several good bulls before the opener thisw past weekend. With about 15 minutes of daylight left on...
