    Driving thru Canada

We had an interesting trip, driving thru Canada. First, We were allowed to drive thru because of being Alaska residents that needed to get home. Prior to going to the boarder, I called the Canadian travel authority to see if it was even possible to transit thru their country. The answer was a...

    How much to tip?

Personally, when I flew hunters in and out for their hunts, I never expected to be tipped. It was nice when I was tipped though. It was hard to guess who would tip and who wouldn't. Generally, it seemed like the guys who were really wealthy tipped the least. The guys who had to save hard for the...

    How much to tip?

I haven't done many guided hunts, so I'm no expert. I think it can depend somewhat on the overall cost of the hunt and the effort required by the guides to prosecute the hunt. On the hunts I've done, I tipped the guide $100 per day that we hunted. Cooks, depending on the meals, about $25 per...

    Canada Gun Ban!

I drive thru Canada at least a couple of times a year. I find their residents to be pretty much like ours. Some are wonderful and friendly, others aren't. It is environmentally a beautiful land but I'm never quite comfortable there with not having my handgun close to me. I rarely transport a...

What do you do with 35mm slides?

A few years ago I had a photo shop put them onto a DVD. That's probably getting out of date but it worked well. There should be plenty of shops that can transfer to a better format.

    Bear bait

I don't know anyone who does but I don't doubt that it would work fine. Bears sure like dog food. Careful though, you might attract in more lions and bobcats. ;)

I would like to get a fair-chase wolverine. I've encountered a fair number of them but never when I could shoot them. Fascinating animal!

What is your go to elk rifle / ammunition combo?

That's a great caliber. I had one in a Mannlicher-Schnour (sp) and killed a bunch of caribou and sitka deer with it. Sorry to say, I lost my load data for it.
