What do you do with your horns/antlers?

There are some solid critters there. Impressive.

Save a fawn kill a coyote

I’ve watched coyotes take down a fawn. It’s straight ROUGH. The mom kept trying to run in to help and they would start to attack her while 1 or 2 stayed on the fawn, once the mom would get 20 yards apart or so, they’d go back to the fawn. Once the mom knew she had no chance of saving her fawn...

New Custom Rifle - 28 Nosler

Beautiful rifle. What bipod are you running there. I’ve had a hard time with the prices of bipods.

What do you do with your horns/antlers?

Hard to see if in the pic but it’s an old backpack frame. Supposed to look like it’s being backpacked out. Haha.

New Custom Rifle - 28 Nosler

Haha. Love it. It’s fun to go through all of that. If 600 yards is your max range. Don’t over look custom modifications over a custom rifle. Adding a Proof Sendero Lite barrel, truing the action and adding a new trigger to an existing rifle, may be just what you need. Heck, if I had a Tikka, I...

The 2019 Mule Deer Success Thread!

Man... some impressive critters here. Congrats to everyone. We focused on whitetail this year. The last weekend of the season we tried to get my daughter an elk and on the hunt we saw a beautiful muley buck. I let her get on him to dry fire. After a few “got him’s” she turned and said, dad next...

What do you do with your horns/antlers?

I’ve been trying some new stuff. Just to mix it up. Save on costs and space. Everything is home made and I have a lot of extra barn wood, if you couldn’t tell. Haha.

New Custom Rifle - 28 Nosler

So I am a bit of a research junky. I’ll start with that. I enjoy the morning coffee, gathering thoughts, opinions and weighing out pros and cons of all components/products. So, with that said, price probably wouldn’t be very fair, I took 8 months buying all the product. I’m sure everyone feels...

Any pics of your rifle too? Love seeing all the combos.

New Custom Rifle - 28 Nosler

Twist rate is 1:8, barrel length is 26 inches. I also went with the terminator brake, which is a tank. Adds 3 more inches which is crazy and all adds some “getting use to”. But there literally is zero recoil. That brake is arguably the best on the market but they warn the hell out of you to make...

New Custom Rifle - 28 Nosler

Thank you. I appreciate it. I actually haven’t heard that about Proof Research barrels. They are a local company to Montana and the word here is pretty high quality. Very well known, but it could totally be a local thing. I’ll let you know in the next 5-10 years haha. So that last statement...

New Custom Rifle - 28 Nosler

I almost guessed that. It seems the 28 Nosler and the 195 EOL were made for each. Across all Gunsmith’s this is by far the most popular combination, which was also a big leading factor to my decision. It is the exact combo I am running too.

Nice... thank you. What bullet did you end up going with?

New Custom Rifle - 28 Nosler

The 28 has some crazy impressive stats. At 1250 yards it’s still delivering 1800 FPS and 1400 ft ponds of energy, on my loads. I went with the NXS 5.5-22x56. MOAR reticle. Total weight is 9 lbs 12 ozs. The scope is pretty heavy and adds a ton of weight. I spent a lot of years chasing weight...

New Custom Rifle - 28 Nosler

Every choice was based on hunting scenarios. It was a super windy season, like crazy train windy, so no opportunities for extended distances this year. Still a good season.

New Custom Rifle - 28 Nosler

I will never forget seeing my first custom rifle. I was at a California Waterfowl Association fundraiser and they brought one out for auction. My mind was blown, it was the most beautiful rifle I had even seen. Since that day, it was always a dream of mine. After more than 25 years and a...
