Hickory Smoked mule deer roast!! OH MY!

I had about a 3-4 pound roast that I sprinkled with blackened seasoning. I put it on my smoker that had nice glowing gray color charcoals. Before I put the meat on , I filled the water container about 1/4 of what I normally use when I smoke a turkey on it. Before I put the meat on I had soaked...

Cabinet Mountains Wilderness goat hunt (attempt)

A good friend of mine drew a MTN Goat tag for the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness in NW Montana. I went up on Monday and we backpacked in to a camp location he had scouted. A month earlier he saw a 9-10" billy in there. The weather looked like it was going to turn nasty on us. I just hoped the...

    6mm Bullet Test: 100 gr. Partition, 90 gr. E-tip, 90 gr. Accubond

I used three loads that were shot in each rifle and chronographed just prior to the test. The loads were the exact same for each rifle with only the rifles being changed, not loads to get a better comparison and to see the effects of different chambers and barrel lengths. The rifles are as...

Some mule deer I have been fortunate enough to take.

I cannot wait until hunting season again. I drew a 291 buck tag for east of where I live roughly 50 miles. My buddy took one there a couple years ago that was a dandy. Maybe I will be as lucky. These are a few I have been lucky enough to take. I need to get out bear and turkey hunting some more...
