States won't rock that boat with federally funded BLM.

It's hard for me to see where he's coming from but it's a different culture down here where cattle operations are pay to play. You don't range them on public, supplementing them is a deep out-of-pocket expense and for a cpl years during the drought hay was around $120/roll. People complain about guides charging trophies fees on public land to boost their income and reality is that's what ranchers are doing with their cattle on public land.
You noticed how the county sheriff basically said "I love ya, but imma have to sit this one out bud.."

It's the smart thing to do. He's not siding with BLM, just playing it neutral.

I also saw where he represented himself back in 98. Pretty sure he needed to consult an attorney. If he don't cough up $, they'll put a lien on everything he's worked for and his kids won't get squat.

The physical part isn't going to happen or it would have on one of the first trailer loads. Since he doesn't obey federal laws I'm wondering if that extends to the IRS.

He is in a world of hurt. Eventually the feds are going to come down on him like stink on cow doo! The only way he survives is to get some politicians like Harry Reid to take up his cause....fat chance even tho he too is LDS.

When the Mojave in Calif was made into a "National Preserve" (that in itself is a joke) they just came in and kicked out all the permit grazers, seized cows and obliterated structures and water improvements ( to the detriment of deer, desert sheep, quail, chukar!). When the feds get manned up and determined to do it, it probably will happen!

I can see exactly where he is coming from. His family been there on that land for 125 years and he dont care to give it up over a bunch of BS. Its to bad more ranchers didnt fight them as hard as he has or maybe things would be different. Alot have fought it , its just hard to get anywhere with the feds. They have put alot of good ranchers under in the last 25 years. I lost a ranch that had been in my family for over 100 years too.

To me it boils down to ethics, respect for elders, and a mans word. I dont know how any of those participating cowboys will lay there head tonight. Hopefully someday bundys boys can return the favor of rounding up their cattle once there fathers are pushed off the land they claimed years and years ago.
I dont know how they sleep at night either. But I wonder if any of them actually run cows or have land or what kind of "cowboys" they really are. No respectable cowboys would ever charge $1 million to round up 500 cows anyways. I cant see how anyone could possibly spend that much.

"Nevada Cattlemen’s Association does not feel it is in our best interest to interfere...."

I honestly can't see how he can lose something that isn't his. It's basically a lease and his actions got his lease canceled.

If he had complied with everything the BLM wanted from the start it would be no different. When they started trying to regulate him off the land was when he stopped paying. I wouldnt want to pay someone thats trying to put me under either. They regulated everyone else out of that area and alot of other areas and that was their plan from the start with him too. Regulations on farming, ranching, logging, mining, ect are choking the west to death.

"His dispute with the government dates to 1993, when land managers cited concern for the federally protected desert tortoise and capped Bundy's herd at 150 animals on his 158,666-acre Bunkerville allotment of rangeland.

Bundy protested by withholding his monthly grazing fees and kept using the range. The BLM canceled his grazing permit in 1994. A federal court in 1998 ordered him to remove the animals, and federal authorities in 1999 officially closed the Bunkerville allotment to cattle."

Great place. My wife and I will be on Maui for 2 weeks this October. I know, I know....right in the middle of hunting season, but I have an excuse, it will be our 50th wedding anniversary.
