Guy just sent this picture my way. 36lbs for 5 days of hunting, think you could go lighter than that?

A lot depends what that includes. Rifle/scope? Binoculars? GPS? Rangefinder? Bear Spray? Spotting scope/tripod? Clothes, coat and boots you are wearing? Trekking poles? Water? Knife?

I dont think I can get that light but I am close. Like UH said it just depends on what you include. I include pretty much everything even bow with arrows release etc. This year looks like low to mid 50s with everything. I will post a list when I get it nailed down.

You really have to balance weight with comfort and peace of mind.
Nailed it.

A buddy and I were just talking about this yesterday. We did 5 day's in the Bob @ 42lbs each. Someone told him they got it down to 35lbs. When it came down to it he later mentioned he took nothing but cliff bars and then caught some fish....
No thanks here :)

Looks like he did a pretty good job! I'm surprised all that only goes 36 lbs after looking at what all's in there.. And getting it done with a "6-7" pound pack that doesn't start with a "K"!!!

It's amazing that the blue ice chest with the white lid fit in the pack. ;)

I haven't done a lot of backpacking but on my last one I created a spreadsheet for every single item I would be carrying up the mountain and the weight of each item to help me make decisions. One thing I really liked is I packed daily meals in a single Ziploc which made restocking my pack really easy.

I too was also wondering how he packed the ice chest in the pack.

I like the idea of separating food into days. My normal hunts are out of my toy hauler as a base camp and then bivy out a day or two when needed.

I've been at 27 for a November high country elk weekend. I'm pretty sure I could get low 30s for 5 days all in , mid October and earlier high country

There is not a doubt in my mind you could under 30 with all the granola and trail mix you eat on backpacking trips....

No granola it trail mix :) jerky , walnuts , dried cherries , coconut butter or almond butter ....maybe dehydrated sweet potato or eggs .... If I'm feeling like luxury add cheese and summer sausage ...
