I think it was budget saving rather than cuts. Colorado legislature years ago designated G & F as an "enterprise", that is its supposed to be self sufficient getting no $$$ from the state for operations. Parks were not an enterprise. Got lots of funding from GOCO (Greater Outdoors Colorado) which is basically lottery profits. Both organizations answer to the Director Of Natural Resources. It happened about a year ago (+/_). Looks like in the long run might have been the right thing to do, but only time will tell. The bad thing is the Governor in his infinite wisdom hired a new Director from out of state, not promoting from within. Lots of grumbling and worries about the direction that the Dept is now going to go.I would assume they merged due to budget cuts??
