Anyone know this road? We're aiming to get on it from route 25 (main highway) via a few other roads. We are planning on pulling a 5th wheel down it and looking to hunt near Cow Butte.

Is this road gonna turn to slop if we get rain? And will we be able to pull our camper out? We've got 4 wheels, diesel and tire chains.

It will be slow-going but possible when dry. It should be navigable when wet, but the area is receiving some snow now, which complicates things. Further up there is some jagged shale. I would take the shortest possible dirt road route. Either way it will be a long trip pulling a camper.

Just like the other road you asked about, be careful! If you have never been out there before it is hard to understand how big of a mess it can get. For example, they are getting up to a foot of snow right now and by Monday it is gonna be 60...its hard to plan and if you have a large trailer it makes traversing much more difficult. I would suggest finding something off a main road, setting up camp there then driving to your hunting location.

I have personally never been down that road either, but lots of public land...however that also means not many people using that road which in all likely hood means it is simply a graded road and pulling off it in the WY bentonite soil could be bad if much moisture hits you.

I wish I could offer you a suggestion, but the only thing you can do is get out there early and look for a spot to set up.

Just make sure when you slide off you get far enough off so you don't block the road ;)

There are a couple of campgrounds in Kaycee, that would be your best bet by far. Good luck!

I am headed to the same area, just a little more north, and will be there Wednesday. Was trying to send you a PM but your inbox is full... When are you headed out there? And I assume you are hunting elk? I just have a cow elk tag and mainly just want to familiarize myself with the area. PM me if you get a chance

FYI - My brother (Chase) is in Unit 33 Elk right now and 33 Mile road was un-passable today, too much moisture...and they are just in a 4wd truck...no 5th wheel

I believe they are trying to get to their area from Kaycee now

And they are about to get more moisture. I cannot believe how wet it has been this year, Big Horns might be getting another 9-12" this weekend.

I'm not sure exactly how far they got up the road, but it did not seem far. They came from Casper to, the did get to area from the north but can only so far then use 4 wheelers...he said its pretty rough between the mud holes and snow drifts. I'm sending you a PM, feel free to call me
