I have just switched to wearing contacts and will be wearing them in the high country this year. I would like to hear from anyone doing the same who may have some tips. thanks.

I have wore contacts for about 5 years now. They are the soft, breathable, extended wear type. I wear them 24/7 and they last 30+ days. I always carry an extra set with me when I am in the field. I really love them as I feel I can actually see better than with glasses. I am a competitive shooter and they really help when I am shooting. The one thing I have noticed is I live in a really dry climate and they tend to get "dry", especially when the wind is blowing. I always carry a small dispenser of lense lube in my pocket.

If you are wearing the extended wear type, your eyes will tell you when its time to change them. Things get a little fuzzy when I look at small stuff on TV. I also will leave them out overnight to give my eyes a little rest. I still use reading glasses from WalMart.

I won't go back to glasses unless there is some problem in the future.

I wear single day use contacts. I take them out at the end and throw them away. I put a fresh set in the morning and use renu to keep them wet. I like them a lot better than wearing glasses.

Thanks for info! I really like my contacts too! Last year I couldn't use binos or my spotter with glasses and it was really frustrating.

I wear contacts all the time.Be sure and test fire your gun after switching to contacts.Focal length will change.I had to set my scope up a little different.Just a heads up!
I also have a problem when I go back to glasses from contacts. It takes a day (sometimes 2) to adjust back. It might be because I wear my contacts 24/7. My Dr says my brain has to relearn seeing without the contacts.......slow learner I guess!

I have been wearing contacts for 20 years. Been through a bunch of brands but now love the Bausch & Lomb Pure Vision 2 HD. My eyes don't seem to dry out nearly as bad, and if I sleep in them they are clear when I get up. But, I am starting to inquire about Lasik surgery. I guess after 20 years, I am finally getting fed up with putting them in and taking them out. I am one of those take them out every night kind of guys. Just the idea of opening my eyes and being able to see sounds so appealing right now.

Like most folks have all ready said, just carry some kind of lubrication and you will be fine in the high country. I never knew this till recently, but visine doesn't burn your eyes like they say it does. I was always afraid to use visine, but my buddy convinced me that the rewetting drops was basically just a gimic to keep you from buying visine. Well I tried some out, and sure as s*** if it didn't lubricate my eyes and get rid of the redness/fatigue.

Just my 2 cents.............best of luck this season(s).

Lubricating drops are made to lube your eyes. Not take away the redness. The ones that take away redness will be the ones that could burn. Best way to take away redness is to rest them.

Just giving another option instead of lubricating drops. For 19 years lubricating drops did nothing for my eyes, they were always dry and red. Switched to Visine AC and haven't had a problem since. Obviously, everybody's eyes will react differently to this drop and that.
