I just watched the 2 episodes from this season of him hunting in New Zealand. That dude is the real deal. With the exception of Mike, Ike, and a few of the guys from "Western Hunter" most of these hunting personalities couldn't hack these high altitude hunts. The few that do try with a guide whine the whole time they are hunting. If you haven't seen the show yet you should check it out.

Definitely enjoy Steven Rinella and what he brings to the television. He is hardcore and always as an interesting way of cooking his game when he gets it back to camp. A few buddies and I still want to try and cook the tenderloin of whatever animal we get in some of the animals own fat. I know Rinella did it with black bear that had been eating on berries all summer, but we want to try it with either deer or elk here in NV.

I really like his show. I still watch a lot of other hunting shows to try to pick up a tip now and then, but I agree most are pretty boring. I just like the fact that Steve will say it like it is. He reminds me of Nate Simmons in the fact that they show you the good and the bad. The thrill of success and sometimes a couple fails along the way. Really puts into perspective how drastic the highs and lows can be.

I like his show. However I don't think there's a hunting show on tv that does more reruns than ME. Seems like they run the same episodes over and over and over and over. Also, who packs in all the vegetables. The dude is 20,000' up on the side of a mountain cooking a critter and he starts whipping out onions, squash, and half a watermelon just to boil it all in the critters unwashed large intestine. Ya baby...

Steve Rinella is one of the best things going in the hunting world right now. I love how he articulates what it is that we hunters feel but can't always put into words and always returns to the cooking and preparing of the game as a priority. I would love to spend a day with him.

Steve is a real hunter, I laughed my ass off when he tried that "Old Indian Trick" of seasoning Bison meat with juice from the Gall bladder! I knew what was coming, he sure didn't! Thought he lose his lunch there for a minute.

He reminds me of what it was like to hunt when you're young. I can't remember on my own.
If you haven't read meat eater the book I strongly recommend it! Its all about shooting squirrels as a kid and feeding himself off salmon and game meat thru out his college life.

If you like these guys you should check out Randy Newberg's stuff. He did a show called "On Your Own Adventures" and this season started a new show called "Fresh Tracks". Both are based on the premise of DIY on public land, just like the average guy does. You won't be disappointed!

Meat Eater has a high priority on my DVR for sure. I like the new trend of western hunting/"real" hunting shows.

Meat Eater, Fresh Tracks, Uncommon Ground, Western Hunter, Into High Country are all pretty good
