I'm heading to Menlo park for a week next month, any suggestions on places to see or go? I will be taking a class from 8-5 and want to burn time in evening doing SOMETHING!
Check out The Oasis, it's a bar with great pizza and burgers, has a kind of JJ's or the Wall (before Red's took over) feel. About the only place down there that isn't super hoity-toity. You can also jump on CalTrain and take it straight to AT&T park, I think you are an A's fan so that prob doesn't help but being able to drink beers on the train up to the game is a good time.

No problem, I went to college in Menlo Park for a couple years. I hung out with a bunch of rednecks from the central valley so we had a hell of a time finding stuff to do down there. Most of the time we would just drink a bunch of beers and crash a Stanford party. I will try to think of some other spots for you to check out but it's been a while since I was there.

I just wanted to make sure we were talking about the same place. I used to live not to far from there. If you get on hwy 84 west and go up into the mountains there is some pretty places up there. When you get to the top you will be at hwy 35. If you go left on 35 its a nice drive and you could go down to hwy 9 and that will take you down to 280 and back to menlo. If you continue on 84 it will take you to San Gregorio (thats where Im from) and 1 more mile you will be at hwy 1 and the ocean. If you go south about 5 miles you will come to the turn off for Pescadero. There is a real good place to eat there called Duartes Tavern. It will probably be pretty busy this time of year but you can always get a spot in the bar! I lived on stage road. its a 1 lane road that goes from Pescadero to San Gregorio. There is alot of pretty country on the coast around there but its become a tourist trap these days. Let me know if you would like more details on anything:)

DR, I thought of a few more things while I was out baleing hay this morning. If you go to hwy 35 and go right on it down about 5 miles or so is a little bar and restaurant called the mountain house. Its not cheap but they have good steaks! If you continue down 35 to hwy 92 and go right (east) just before you get to the jct of 92 and 280 is canada road. it kinda runs along 280 from 92 to 84. There are some open fields along it on the west side and you can usually find some nice blacktail bucks in them! No one can hunt around there so they arent to wild. If you like sea food if you go west on 92 to half moon bay and north on hwy 1 a few miles to el granada and go into the harbor ketch joanne is good and there are others around there too. Also if you go on stage rd from san gregorio to pescadero you should see some deer! Menlo park is not a bad area but there are alot of rich snobs around there.
