Gut Hook Knives

Does anyone use a gut hook knife and if so is it useful and what brand?

I use them when ever I work on a gig game animal. I used them more as an aid to skinning. They really work well for splitting and opening the skin.

I have a custom knife I had built about 40 years ago that I had the knife maker add to the blade when I ordered it.

It uses razor blades. Works great. You can buy 100 of them for just a few bucks. Change it out once a year.

The nice thing about the wyoming knife if that you dont need a secondary knife to poke the initial hole.

The nice thing about the Gerber is that you can replace the blade CHEAP and IMHO it isn't nearly as dangerous to use.
Also, I should point out that I don't really like Gerber products, so its a bit painful to admit that they knocked it out of the park with this thing...
