Wanting to use my 11 PP (2 hunter average) this next season, trying to find a decent Mule Deer. It seems point creep keeps me looking at the same Areas every year. So I was looking at Area 118. Eastman's gives it a "C" for access. There is a large WMA, Absaroka Front, that is partially located in this area and there are unlimited permission slips. The WMA encompasses both BLM, State and private land. My question is, if you have the permission slip, can you hunt the private land within the WMA boundaries? I have hunted Wyoming several times before, but have never hunted on a WMA. There is a little bit of NF on the western side, but looks like a lot of roads and trails.

I would call Wyoming and ask the same question. One thing to keep in mind, the WMA"s change every year and I am not sure they have posted the new ones for 2026.
Generally speaking contracts for WMA and HMAs are being renewed now as season setting meetings and dates are being considered. Change over doesn't happen like crazy but it does happen.

Short answer we is yes, you can hunt the private located inside the WMA boundaries. However, pay agent to amy me info that comes out for 2026. I typically don't look at deer hunts until late April so I can see the new regulations and tag numbers.

I've hunted that HMA and you can hunt most of the private in there. There will be some of it closed or have special regulations but its shown pretty clearly on the map. Just be sure to check again when the new hma rules are posted. That property is a long running one so not much should change.
