49298Here he is fellas! Pretty dam excited to have big SOB!
I saw him my first morning at 158 yards but had no shot opportunity. He had came out behind me on the right side of the tree stand. I’m right handed so no chance of me being able to get my rifle in position. I watched him disappear in the woods chasing the lady’s.
I had seen him one more time when I was getting down out of the stand at about 200 but again no shot with all the bush in my way. We decided to get into a different location and try to rattle him in but no luck.
Back to the house for some food and discussion about the plan for the evening hunt my guide/outfitter put me in a ground blind between bedding and feeding area. I got set early about 1 pm. It didn’t take long to see a few does milling around working their way to the feeding area keeping me on my toes then a couple hrs later I caught a glimpse of him back in the woods. I lost him for about 20 minutes. Then does started spilling out of the woods work to the feeding area. Lots of the does were coming within 30-60 yards from my blind so I was thinking this could be a crazy close shot. There were 3 rubs about 100 yards from me and I figured he would be checking them and freshing them up so I was focusing my attention in that direction when I saw him. He was pushing some does to the feeding area. The does came close to my blind like the others and he was right behind them, nose in the air. He came up over a rise and stopped but of course I had a bush covering his vitals. I thought to myself take 2 more steps and I’m going to give it to you! 2 more steps and he stopped at 40 yards and I gave him one! Base of the neck and he dropped in his tracks!
Holy shit!!! I just killed the biggest buck I’ve ever seen on the hoof at 40 F’n yards!!!
To say the least I was so happy the texts started flying. I had to get my hands on him. I got out of the blind and started my long hike to him 40 yards away! Lol.
I’ve only seen bucks like this on TV and to say ground growage is an understatement!
JD showed up and I gave that man a hug like my wife is used to! We were both excited to see this buck on the ground. Lots of fist pumping and smiles to say the least!
We tagged him and loaded him up in the truck to move by the river for some photos.
I hope Brandon comments here but JD cut my tag on the hood of his suburban and asked me to video it so he could send it to Brandon. There is a bit of a story here so what’s the deal Brandon? Ha

I’ll post up more photos soon. We have one more deer to kill and he’s a nice one too. He is alone with one hot doe so he’s going to be tough to get but Jeff’s heart is set on him.

Thanks guys! One hell of a good time at Circle S Outfitters!

Scott will post up contact info for you guys if interested in a hunt like this. Free range wild deer. Mule deer, Whittails and turkeys are everywhere!
