SOUNDS GREAT CC. How is the limited activity expected to affect the knee replacement?
A month after the replacement surgery, I slipped on some ice and fell. I had a complete tear of the quadricep tendon. Had another surgery 3 weeks ago to repair the tear and the knee has to be in a brace for 10 to 12 weeks so the tendon can heal. The knee replacement was 100% successful, just have to deal with the complications from the fall.

My left knee was totally gone (replaced the right one 20 years ago). Had it replaced last month. Everything was going great in my rehab, way ahead of schedule. On my way to PT a week and a half ago, I slipped and fell on some ice that was covered with snow so I didn't see it. I completely severed the quadricep tendon. Had surgery Thursday to reattach then tendon. My Dr said total separations are rare. Full recovery is probably 50-50. I am in a full leg brace to prevent me from bending my knee for the next 3 months. Recover is not going to be fun....looks like my hunting this year is gone. I have until the first week of April to make up mind mind what I am going to do.

My advice is don't do this....not fun!
Hate to hear this! Hoping for a full and speedy recovery.

Are they putting you in one of those machines to bend your knee or is it all on your own power?

Had my 6 weeks appointment with my surgeon yesterday and he is pleased. He changed my PT and I can start to work on bending my knee to 45 degrees. Still have to wear the brace for another 6 weeks. I am also walking a mile (with the brace on) almost every day, weather permitting.
Are you going to try and hunt Colorado this year or just points?

Actually both. I have enough points to possibly draw an antelope tag, which I applied for. Easy hunt that I am sure I will be able to do. Points for the rest. Also points in Wyoming. I could draw in Wy, but with the bad winter, I'll skip it this year. Considering a Texas pig/deer hunt too.

I feel like I got my Get Out Of Jail card today! My knee surgeon says I can start bending my knee to 90 degrees and don't have to wear the brace while sleeping at night. More aggressive PT with the goal of removing brace totally in a couple of weeks. My Surgeon was really pleased with my progress and said he believes the surgery was a 100% success.
