Well, for my graduation present my parents said they would get me a new hunting rifle. It turns out a gal that works for my dad is married to a gunsmith. We decided to have him over a discuss my options. At the end of the night we decided to let him go ahead and build me a rifle.

Specs.- Custom 270WSM
-McMillan Hunters EDGE stock
-Winchester Model 70 action and trigger
-Forgot the name of the barrel but he ensured me its cut rifling and is the same barrels he used when making 6 sniper rifles for the DoD
-Floated barrel and Bedded action

Can't wait to get my hands on it!

Why not the M70 action? I'm going with 24in barrel and M70 action because he is a big fan of them, he says there's nothing fancy about them and they are very reliable. I took his word for it, he's been building rifles for many years.

That is terrific and I think you will be very happy with the Model 70 action. I have drooled over the Model 70's for years and now that they are being made better than they EVER HAVE, I broke down and bought my son a Model 70 Extreme Weather SS in 300 WSM. I can't wait until he saves his money for a scope so we can start working on a load for it! You are also going to really like the 270 WSM as it's a fantastic cartridge that is right up there with the 270 Weatherby. Curious to know if you are going to load for it and what kind of bullet and weight?

I heard him mention obermeyer barrels (not sure if I spelt it right) but I'm not 100% sure. He's friends with my dad and they've been talking about it, I kind of left it up to the gunsmith all I'm 100% sure about is that the barrel will be a cut rifling barrel.
