I would love to see them go to a pp system for residents. I have a lot of resident friends - we can't ever plan LQ hunts together as there is no way to know we can all draw during the same season. I would be opposed to unlimited general season tags for non-residents as I feel that would push hunting pressure too high for a quality hunt in most general areas.

Unlimited NR general tags would be the death of any quality elk hunting in Wyoming, outside of the LQ areas.
I suggested no R PP system, and more tags for R;)

Wishful thinking here, but...

It'll never happen, but I'd like to see a cap on points where once you reach the max points, you have 2 years to use or lose.
I'd also like to see the caps lowered to something more realistic to keep the system moving. For example, 8 would be top tier, with 2 years to use once you reach the ceiling.
Just a thought.

1. Get rid of all point systems and have the resident and nonresident draws earlier at same time so everyone has time to plan. 2. Realistically I think eventually due to technology and social media, to have quality hunts in what now are general units that all units will be forced to have caps on the number of tags issued or become limited quota. The quality of the experience is on the decline I feel and recruiting new hunters isn?t getting easier.Very few people wondering around these days without some good intel on where the game is located and I think most everyone is experiencing this ?crowding ? phenomenon no matter where or what you hunt or fish for in this technological driven era.If that doesnt happen I think we will have to self impose limits to technology because it has without a doubt altered the outdoors experience and the rapid advancement of the tools we have at our disposal will pile more and more people on top of each other over the years. 3. Or go back to the old days of game management where production of game was the number one purpose and the trophy was anything that had hooves.

move NR tag quotas to maximum 10% of tags like Idaho, and definitely NO pp system for residents. But these meetings are only about non-res so I'm not worried about resident issues aside from losing more of the tags we should be getting in LQ units

Where can I comment instead of go to a meeting? I didn't see a link to comment on.

Curious why residents wouldn't want a PP system? I would think it would allow you to better plan hunts and get tags on a more regular basis instead of the current crap shoot your faced with. You would lose the occasional lucky streak but you would also lose the long dry streaks that sometimes happen.

Ut, OR, and AZ are at or near the 24 point level with hunts still not 100%. That's a pretty long dry streak.

I agree that point total would get high in a few areas like 100 for elk- but many people will never draw that tag in their life regardless of the system. I'm looking more at the 10%+ draw areas around the state where a resident could guarantee they get a tag on a more regular basis and always fall back on the general tag- same as current. I think the point totals may actually be lower for some of the mid tier areas because a lot of people would try to bank points for their area 100 or similar tag. Just my 2 cents- appreciate the different perspectives as always.

As a resident, I would like to see a resident preference point system for the limited quota tags. In 12 years of applying, I have never drawn a lq bull tag, and I’ve never applied for an area with less than 10% odds. But on the other hand I can’t complain too much because a Wyoming general tag is great.

Exactly. You know you have a chance to get lucky every year and the general hunting is good. Leave it alone!

After seeing the debacles created in so many other point systems, Im not sure why any state would institute a new one where none exists today. Invariably they always sell points then screw the holders when they have to morph the system to keep newbies investing from the ground floor. Look at the mess they created in CO, NV, UT, ME and even AZ last year having to switch to 50/50. Random is better and much easier to enter & exit participation for everyone without getting screwed.

OTC general tags would be the absolute best way to turn all the general units to hot gargage in very short order. That’s exactly what they did to Illinois public deer. Think dumpster fire and truckloads of guys from TN, GA, AL, MS, LA, FL & MI. Hope you like southern accents.

I strongly oppose a resident PP system. I want a "crap shoot" that puts everyone on an equal playing field at all times. No one is entitled to draw a unit at any time no matter how long they've put in for it. There are going to be people that seem to have bad luck and others with apparently good luck. That's life.
