wyoming unit 73

hi new guy from Minnesota to the forum. looking for info on 73 if there was much of a winter kill and how the goat population is doing. plan on trying to draw this year. thanks for any help. cant wait to head west and hunt.

Not gonna get much help on 73 without introducing yourself and giving the guys some self-history.
I'm sure you understand. Otherwise, there would be no antelope in unit 73 as everyone would be there. :)

Lots of antelope in 73. Don't be in a hurry to pull the trigger. The roads are hell if you get ANY amount of moisture. I found them last year without a problem

I just went and posted in the new member forum also. Thanks for the advice so far. I will be going into the draw with 4 points and as far as I can tell I should have a 60 percent chance of drawing 73 this year in the normal draw. Looking for a public land hunt with ample public land. Also not afraid to put some miles on the boots to get away from the roads or crowds on the roads. Not looking for the biggest antelope around just a nice respectable animal of the species. Hoping for lots of chances with stalks. Plan on starting out with the bow than if I can't close the deal I will switch over to the rifle. Any help is greatly appreciated and also understand of you want to keep your spots a secrete. I have been reasearching quite a bit. But hoping for just a little info that I am missing thanks for anything you can help with.

I know it's hard to understand, but literally you can't swing a dead cat up there without hitting an Antelope. Go, have fun, filling a tag with a quality buck will not be an issue.

I was hunting the last 2 weeks of the season last year and the only issue I had was a couple fisherman spooking a big goat I was stalking.

The only time i hunt opening day is if i pre-scouted and found a big buck. I want to have the first crack at him and hopefully get him before any one else does. If i cant find him or someone else shoots him, i am like the other guys here, I wait til the last week or 10 left in season. You only run into a few hunters if any and will have far less pressure. You will have fun, don't shoot the first one you see unless you know for a fact its a bomber! Seen buddies do this, then on the drive out of the area we seen a way bigger one just standing there. So our rules are once you shoot one, we dont stop to look at any other ones, or we wait til dark and drive out! LOL. Good luck. You will have a great time.

Hey James from one Minnesotan to another I'm can't wait to go out to Wyoming and chase goats again. I lived out in Cheyenne 30 years ago and loved it. I plan on hunting area 48 this fall, but would be willing to share info with you. Shoot me a PM.

Chalk up another Minnesotan hunting 73 this fall. I'm hoping to draw doe tags and learn unit before using my points next yr. Gotta love Wyoming.
