I have a 2-7x Leupold shotgun slug type scope just laying around I was thinking of mounting on my new rifle, I think it's a VX-I essentially.

Just wanted to make sure there's no issues with doing this?

it'll be a temporary solution until I figure out what to put on a .223/5.56

I also have a 1.5-4.5x shotgun scope I could use.

Debating a 1-6x Vortex vs. 2.5-16x 6500 possibly, open to any scopes though, in the up to $1000 range, but ideally 400-700.

Only thing I could think of is the parallax setting. Not sure what the shotgun scope is set for, but you may want to check. But if you are shooting at moderate ranges, should not be an issue, LR, it can be an issue. For a temp solution on a 5.56, I'd mount it and shoot away.

As Tim said.....I think past 250 yards there will be measurable error......but it would be interesting to see what exactly that amounts to on a target board.
