Truck is loaded down and under my new fabricated truck cap. Bought it for $50 and cut/reframed the door to fit and finished with a high gloss automotive paint and enamel. Turned out really nice. Put on two new locking handles as well.
I'll be antelope hunting in Wyoming for 5 days, but I packed for 6. I'm pleased that I was able cut my pack weight by 12lb and came in at 50lb + water & rifle which I'll load upon arrival. This includes video recorder, tripod, & spotter + a set of warmer clothes. I am hunting with a partner, but we are packed to go solo, thus we can not share any weight.
I plan to hunt the first 2 days with stick and string. I know this will be a tough task considering the season has been in for some time and the animals are all stirred up, but I've got to try. :)
Plan is to be mobile and hunt from spike camp. Forecast is high winds and snow upon arrival. I love a challenge.

I'll be back in a week!

Good luck. You'll find some bucks with doe isolated, they are still chasing here. You might find one with his doe tucked away in a cranny somewhere. I had a doe run a nice buck right to me one time because she was tired of his chasing. She spotted us and ran right to us for the buck harvest, he just followed her right in. Play the terrain, they can be stalked.

Good luck. We are just getting back and you should have the country to yourself. The antelope in our area have really settled down. We were nearly alone for the last few days.

Just got back from my Wyoming antelope hunt on Sunday. There were only a small handful of hunters to be seen and it should be noted that while most of the bucks were still rutting, they seemed to me settling down a little more. That being said, good luck and Godspeed!

Antelope.jpgMade it back and now playing catch up at work. It was a great trip. I took 2 doe and 1 buck. I hunted 2 different units. If anyone was watching the weather, a big winter storm rolled out of Saskatchewan the day I left Ohio. It was extremely windy, snowing on 2 afternoons, with a bit of freezing rain mix.It was in the teens/low twenties at night and between 35-50 during the day. Oh yeah, my living quarters was a tent. However, I was prepared for 'whatever' considering it's Wyoming and had a great time. Due to the season being in for a few weeks, the locals speaking of a die-off, and the winter storm, the hunting was tough. But all this just makes for a better hunt story and awesome time filling tags. Took this buck at 452 yds. Getting late and could not get any closer. Took 2 doe at 50yds and 215yds respectively. I used my Browning 7mm using 162gr SST SP. They worked perfectly. They performed the same from 50-452. I was pleased with the ammo.
Round trip travel 3,300 miles (slept in the truck going to/from WY-OH). I figure if I can sleep in a tent on the ground for 4-5 days, the truck is even better. lol
Thanks to those who assisted my putting this 0pt trip together. Hopefully I can cash in my pts next year on a 70"+ lope.
As always, those back-straps were delicious! I'll try to post additional pictures later - gotta get back to work.
