Umpqua Hunter. You are right on with the Japanese saws. They cut on the pull and are scary sharp when new. Up here they are in every carpenters tool box and have pretty much replaced the English style handsaw. They come in all sorts of tooth patterns for fine woodworking Fast cross cutting pruning and tree work you name it. They won't replace my Stihl Farmsaw and you will feel weird buying one cause you won't be sure if it works and they looks strange but you will reach for it all the time.

I used my little canvas case yesterday with my 24" Bob Dustrude folding bow saw and Gransfers Bruks small forest axe yesterday. The canvas carry case with the two of them is darn handy to throw in the UTV when going around fence or doing other ranch work just in case. Yesterday I was putting up trail cams and building blinds. The kit made a big cedar in one of our pastures into a combo trail cam hanger and bow hunting blind. I'm thinking of trying a bow again for the first time in about 10 years this fall. That kit is darn handy and reasonably light for smaller jobs.

I just used my Silky saw this past week to clear trails on our ranch. I cut hundreds of limbs all the way up to 4" diameter. It is incredible how they cut. It will go through the small limbs (1" or so) in a single pull stroke.

isn't that funny, you can be loud and careless and they don't seem to mind much but the moment you begin hunting and trying to be quite and sneaky, they know exactly what game you are playing.
That's the problem, don't try to be sneaky. Sneaky things try to kill them. Try to sound more like an elk. :)
