When do the leftovers usually sell out? I know some of the most popular ones will sell out opening day. What about some of the ones with tons of leftovers like unit 16-1 or 17-1 antelope; or antlerless 129-6 elk? I would like to get another tag to go with the 18-1 antelope that I already have but I might draw an antelope tag in Montana so I would like to see those results before buying another tag.

Maybe I need to just buy some doe tags and if I draw in Montana and I don't have enough time to hunt the does them, then I'll only be out a little $$$.

I'm looking at the same options Alabama. The WY site is down. When is the elk-doe season in 129?
Not much public to speak of, but a little. Can't find numbers anywhere either (Due to site being down intermittently).

OK, got dates. Any insight on 129?

It just depends. I bought left over cow tags last November. There were a lot of tags leftover in august and September. The good ones will be gone with in hour they are available.

This^

The good ones will probably be gone in less than 5 minutes.

IIRC, those units you mentioned like 16, 17, and probably 22 and 23 had leftovers for quite awhile.

Do you know if there are any private land contact lists as with antelope?
Pretty sure if you call a G&F office, you can get a list. From what I've heard though, it sounds like most landowners now have all the hunters they want and most of them come back each year. Doesn't hurt to try calling some guys though.

True, but late in the game for tomorrow's sale. :)

Private land I assume.
What is your game plan? Knock on doors to fill the tags or hunt the same location as your buck tag? Where you headed if I may ask?

I hope to buy a couple of doe tags for antelope in the area I drew in Wyoming they usually do not sell out immediately !

I bought the tag this morning.
Just excited to have a chance at a bull this year.
Wy resident hunters certainly think there are better options.

Part of this game is a gamble. Do all the research a guy can do (look at hunter success rates over the years, hunter density, land access, talk to ppl like wardens-biologists-forum members-guides) to dial the 'list' in. Then, close your eyes, toss the 🎲. The type 6 tags- if you're cool with shooting a doe/cow-are easier on the wallet.

It sure beats staying at home-see some of our nation's natural treasures-historic sites-gain on the ground experience-get a good steak-maybe see a cute waitress @ the steak joint? 😎

I went ahead and bought a leftover, so I have 2 antelope buck tags. If I draw Montana I'll have 3 tags! I got the 1st opening dates for the only HMA in my leftover unit. I was logged in at 8 am this morning and snatched up the very 1st one. I'm going to come back with my 1st, 2nd and possibly 3rd antelope on my very 1st trip for the speedsters. If I can hit them that is lol.

Reduced price doe/fawn and cow/ calf on sale tomorrow. Check the limitations on the areas. Some of the cow tags will be in areas with little access and they get hit hard if they have any. Some landowners will not allow doe fawn hunting to protect low deer numbers. White tail doe are not as hard to find access to.
