If it was in your cart prior to all being gone and paid for, the dept knows and will contact you. They know there were card processing problems and are going thru the records. All the transactions are time stamped.

Maybe this next observation belongs in a new "WY Leftovers post-mortem" thread? 😆

What gives with the 795 (as I write this) cow tags left in unit 6?? Those elk all on some ranch owned by PETA? 😜

So then what happens to later people who got through and bought a tag? Are they going to contact them to tell them they don't get a tag?

Those will be some fun conversations.

It should t be a problem. Once you went to pay for the tag it was removed from the quota, if you got through or not

Until the 10 minute hold timer released the tag you just held back into the sellable quota. Don't get peoples hopes up if you didn't actually buy a tag, you didn't get one, and the G&F isn't calling you to get you one that you had in you cart. Their fault or not.

Area 6 cow tags are almost all private land. Very few state sections and not much private access. When the state made area 6 general it made some ranchers mad as poaching really increased in that area. Trespassing is also a big problem there so ranchers really watch out for each other's land. Lots of elk if you can find the herd and get access.

I have a voicemail from G&F that says otherwise.

So I have to eat crow on this one.

Just got off the phone with the G&F and for the first time ever they had a system setup to hold the tag if a technical problem like this happened. They have a list of everyone's names that got to the CC vendor page and tried to pay. So if you clicked submit payment and didn't get a conformation of purchase you have a tag on hold, and better call so you can finalize the purchase. Pam at the G&F said she didn't know how long their going to hold those tags, so you better act fast. And a heads up to everyone else there is going to be a few tags possibility going back up for sale.

This is the email I received last week:

Dear xxx xxxxxxxx,

We understand that on July 13, 2016 you were attempting to buy a leftover, reduced-price or full-price hunting license and experienced a problem with our credit card vendor. We regret that this occurred and we know how important these licenses and hunting opportunities are.

The good news is we worked hard to keep track of customers who made it to the point of purchase and were moving to the credit card vendor’s website. This means Game and Fish has the license(s) record(s) you had in your shopping cart and attempted to process payment with our credit card vendor along with the records of your successful purchase.

In reviewing these records we noticed your successful purchase was for the same species but just a different area of another license in your shopping cart.

Below we have outlined your final purchase:

NONRESIDENT DOE/FAWN DEER xx-8,

And because we kept track of customers who made it to the point of purchase before moving to the credit card vendor’s website, Game and Fish is also holding the following license or licenses for you:

NONRESIDENT DOE/FAWN DEER xx-6,

We know the problems with our credit card vendor may have impacted your final purchase and the Game and Fish wants to do our best to make it right. We need you to choose from the following options for your licenses:

Keep the license(s) purchased and release the license(s) initially reserved
Switch the license(s) purchased for the license(s) initially reserved
Keep the license(s) purchased and submit payment for the license(s) initially reserved (If eligible to hold this quantity of licenses as allowed by regulation)
Please refer to Wyoming Game and Fish regulations for the number of allowable licenses an individual can hold.

If you could please send us an email, by Friday, July 22nd at 5 pm MST with the following information to [email protected]
Your name:
Sportsmen’s ID number:
The option presented above, if appropriate specific hunt area/type and quantity of your final license selection:

If you chose Option 1 or Option 2 the License Section will make any necessary changes and you will receive your licenses in the mail. If you chose Option 3, the Wyoming Game and Fish will contact you to finalize payment for the reserved licenses you wish to purchase (Game and Fish does not have your credit card records, only our vendor does).

Again we apologize for the inconvenience caused by our credit card vendor and thank you for your commitment to hunting in Wyoming.

Sincerely,

The Game and Fish Team

Count on Wyoming to try and get it right. No bad words for the Game and Fish here.
They're awesome, I was very impressed. I sure didn't expect to be given the chance to switch the licenses I bought for the licenses I originally tried to purchase. Definitely no complaints here.

I only wish I could get the type 6 antelope tags that I intended to buy but they were all gone in about the first 15 seconds, so I wasn't quick enough to even get them into my "cart."

Thanks Wy-Tex 4 the line on the 6-6 tag, makes sense-still lots of tags left on the table.

Agree all around on WY G&F doing right on those system glitches. 👏

That 6-6 tags would be worth a phone call to G&F after the season opens.Usually there are some landowners that let them know they have cow hunting.

I envy you, sir. My friend and I had the same problem but weren't allowed to switch.
So you are not getting the tags you had in your cart when you had problems with payment?

I thought someone said that once they went into your cart they were removed from the quota?

Did you call or email them and ask? I did email them, and not too long afterwards I received the email from the WGFD with the offer to switch. I don't know if the email I received had anything to do with the one I sent.

Oh and by the way, I still have not seen any confirmation from the WGFD that my licenses will in fact be switched, but I'm pretty sure they won't disappoint me. I know they've got to be extremely busy right now.
