Man thats to bad it didnt go as well as you hoped
I always think "I was a blood trail short of having an awesome hunting partner!" I'm sure things will change. We have a 4 year old and a 1 year old. Taking the whole clan into the woods at this stage is a chore and a half. Once everyone is self sufficient and wants to go I'm sure we will have a good time. Looking forward to having a few pics like ikic!

Ya I hear ya. That's pretty young to be out long and for you and the wife to be able to enjoy yourselves too.

It will my friend, and the pics will be the best you've ever taken trust me.

It's the best thing to do IMO to get the family to go. To be honest I have more fun now that they are with me. Antelope hunting is a freakin blast with the family. We hunt for does in nv just about every year. Or camp is getting bigger and bigger, lol

We're well on our way to family trips! Got this a few months back. I'll be joining the "camper" hunters shortly

I e been lucky enough to raise my boy with no wife distractions. He's basically had no choice but to go with me. He's a trooper but is turning 9 soon and has the attitude of a 14yr old. He still loves the hunting and getting out but being cool and lazy has been getting on my nerves recently. I've also added a girlfriend into the mix recently, not a hunter. She's got a serious skiing addiction so I'm hoping there's an understanding. Seems to be good so far anyways

I'm guessing from your lifestyle (rural area, dad only, hunting as a way of life) your boy probably has the maturity of a 14 year old along with the attitude. I remember going thru phases as a kid after my parents split. Some good some bad. But I always ended up in the hills with my old man. Gotta take the good with the bad!

Lookin good Hardstalk. Making the family comfortable is huge.
It was a random purchase. The wife myself and my sister and bro in law were all drinking one night. There kids are the same age as ours. A buddy mentioned the trailer and it was a steal of a deal. My bro in law and I decided to go halves (80% of the time were out we go together anyway) his company has been renting it from us to house the traveling superintendents that come to town for training classes. His company has paid for all the minor repairs, new tires and then some. 39' trailer for 6k a piece. It has the rear garage with bed so basically 2 bedrooms. Throw all the kids in the center and all the adults have there own "get away" area.

Good stuff guys. I made it a point to hunt the wife, with mixed results, and 2 of my 3 kids, could never get the daughter to try. I've never regretted it for a second, and have 4 grandsons to start in a few years. The wife and I agreed she is a once in every 10 years warm weather antelope hunter. We've made memories for life, even if none of us ever hunt again.

Speaking of regrets, there was that one hunt my oldest insisted on hunting alone, at 15, for two huge bucks I'd spent 2 months videoing and patterning. 35" 190 ish typical and a NT with 3 drops I'd guess 260+. Was the first buck tag for there in decades if not ever for this small area. He promptly drops a 23" 3x4 in full velvet, a real whopper, at least 135". I walk up, say that is not one of the big ones, didn't you see them 50 feet behind this guy? He says nope, but Dad this is my biggest buck...I say he sure is. 5 years or so later, I play the video for him, show him both toads... We laugh about it often.

Now at 33, he has the points to draw that tag again, we saw a 215 NT, and another 195-200 NT, a big 3x4 with trash close to 185 and 3 4x4's 26-28" 160-170 bucks there in Nov. We talked last week, he should draw and says again he is going after a big one, I said, I am going to be with you this time...

Hunt with the kids!

Nope he won't, but if he draws, I hope he at least holds out for one of the 160-170 4x4's. The real big ones are tough in early Oct, but we'll try for redemption.
