What state are we talking about? In Oklahoma you can carry both during modern firearms season providing you wear an orange cap or other headwear. For deer season anyway. Turkey you can also carry both

That's right, also in Oklahoma we can carry a handgun during any season if you have a permit to carry. Lots of 44 mags go into the woods due to hog problem.
