Any wide, leather hiking boots?

I am trying to find a wide pair of all-leather hiking boots. I am currently using a pair of Asolo boots that claim to be wide, but they are not as wide as my regular Salomon boots. My Salomon (non-leather) boots fit my feet perfectly and are very comfortable, but they are not going to hold up to hardcore hiking. My Asolo boots are very durable, but they are too narrow even though they are sized EE. The research I have done is hard to sift through because one person will say that this boot fits their wide foot perfectly and the next person says it is too narrow. I don't live in an area where I can go try a bunch of different boots on so I will have to buy online and use reviews to find a good, wide all-leather boot.

Mendel Perfekt Hikers, as well as their leather hunting boots come in wide. They work fabulously for me, but everyone's foot is different. If you order boots on line (Cabella's carries Mendel), only wear the boots inside to ensure fit, and you should be able to return them. There are some custom fit options out there if you are really a different sort of guy, but I would check out the standard EE or wide first. A lot of people don't realize that their feet tend to flatten out through the years, and you may wear a different size than you used to. Also, a size 10W from one manufacturer may not fit the same as that from another.

I too have wide feet. I have ordered several pairs from Cabelas over the years and have returned them....no problem. Never wore them outside, just in the house to try the fit.

Have you worn either pairs of these boots to tell if they are indeed a wide boot? Like I said earlier, the "wide" Asolo boots I have are narrower than the "regular" Salomon boots I have.

Lowa Boots offer several styles in wide width. I have the Tibet GTX, they have been a great boot. I did add a superfeet insole.

I think I have narrowed it down to the following boots:

1.) Zamberlan Vioz Plus GTX
2.) Hanwag Mountain Light GTX
3.) Hanwag Alaska Men GTX
4.) Lowa Tibet GTX

It would be nice to try all 4 pairs on consecutively to see which ones fit better.

Mine is 12eee and I always have a hard Timefinding boots, lowas work for me but I have to go asize larger 13ee red wing wide the same 13 w and Irishsetters 13w they are all comfortable and not super loose and big. Hope this helps

I recently picked up a set of Kenetrek Hardscrabble Hikers (wide) and they fit/feel great! They have a printable sizing chart online that really helps when selecting their boots (I have the same problem as you with not being able to try things on in advance). Might be worth printing off to see if they have something that will fit your foot.

Loveland, CO. was AZ.
I just bought a new pair of Kenetrek Hardscrabble hikers. Wow!!!! I guess I just waited way to long to buy these. Instant comfort for me. Although I bought 11medium Kenetrek makes a EE width. Worth the money. My Danners are insulated so those are my cold weather hunt boots....

I decided to order the Hanwag Alaska GTX and the Lowa Tibet Mid GTX from Campsaver to compare the two. I will send back the ones I don't like for free. The Hanwags were 30% off and the Lowas were 20% off.

Be sure to try your footbed of choice in both boots.
I got my Alaskas last week. You will find the footbed in them is very thin and adding a decent sized footbed may reduce the inner volume to an uncomfortable level. I felt a noticeable difference between the Lowa Cevedale Pro , which is off the same last as the Tibet, vs the Alaskas. Such that I couldn't swap the footbed.

I have a short, wide foot, with a high arch. I could not be happier with the fit and performance of my hanwag Alaskans. I changed out the factory insole for the Superfeet green insole. I can go days on end with no foot fatigue or blisters.
I bought my boots off of backcountry.com, for 30% off retail. Their return policy is outstanding, I'd recommend ordering the boots from there, or zappos, wear them inside only, and find the boot that fits the best
I wish I would had bought 5 pairs at the price I did.

I have found what I believe is the perfect insole for me with a high arch and a good gel pad underneath the ball of my foot...Sof Sole Airr Orthotic Performance Insole. I did order both the Hanwag and Lowes in a size 12, which is half a size larger than normal and both boots are in wide. Hopefully, one of the boots will fit good.

Yes, I am remiss for not mentioning that detail - the dealer I buy from sells Kennetrek and one other high end boot and strongly recommends SUPERFEET with all of them, I wear GREEN SUPERFEET insoles always - I think I'm gonna give the Lathrop & Sons insole system a try soon though
