Worked all night last night and tonight, ran every spot I know and nothing moved. These storms have everything holed up. Running on 3 hours sleep in 2 days and hunting after work tomorrow. I'll sleep when I'm dead!

Well one bear at a time, two in the same tree.three bears at once, dogs split up and tree two bears at once in separate chases- why not a cat and a bear in the same day?
GO GET EM!!

So this morning at about 3am I about wound up dead in my plow truck. Sleep may be more important than I thought. Going to get some rest and try and scout around this afternoon. We got hammered with a few more inches last night.

It has finally been updated at 10 bears. Still 10 to go and conditions and hunting have become tough. Really hoped to see the quota closer but doesn't look like its getting filled this year either. I'd be surprised to see 15 bears taken this year. I'm hoping I can put it at 13 myself.

We did catch another on Veterans Day to boot. Mark has passed on over 10 bears and has watched other hunters fill their tags. He wasn't passing on this one being that hunting has gotten tough. We spent 3 hours walking out a 10hr old lion track that when the dogs finally started beating it up, it went into a cliffed out rocky area with all the fresh snow burned off. Went back to the trucks a continued on for bears. Temps were cold so I didn't have dogs on the box and towards the end of our run my Turbo dog exploded followed by every dog in the box. I dumped Turbo and the puppies and listened and had no doubt they were hot on a bear in seconds. I dumped the other 3 dogs and the race was on. 20 minutes and they were treed.

So we got us another one today. Dogs rigged at about 8:45 this morning and before I could even get dogs on the ground I saw the bear running dead away at about 150yds. Dumped dogs and the race was on. Headed due south for about a mile and looped west. We boogied down the road for a few miles shadowing the race when the turned hard right and headed straight for us. The whole bunch crossed the road not 20' in front of me and headed north. The race slowed down and the bad this mean little bear bayed up several times. We caught up again and got within a 1000yds and listened to the action knowing it wasn't over. The bear back tracked a ways and headed west. We had to work around a mountain this took some major time to catch up.

Once we finally got around the mountain the dogs were moving slow and baying the bear. We had to navigate some nasty muddy, snowy roads until we could go no further. We could hear the action above and set out. Straight up we went and the dogs voices kept fading in and out. Once we made it about 3/4 of the way up I peeked over the ridge to see my dogs head down in a cave and going nuts. I urged the shooter over and we got into position only a few feet away from the angry bear with dogs baying. The shooter made a great shot and a follow up shot to finish this bear off. Intense and exciting to say the least. A few dogs got to close and are banged up but ok and all dogs are whoooped. 3+ hours and 10+ miles, I'd say I'm proud of my pack!

Mike took another bear today. Could be one of the last for the season. That should put the count at 15 bears or so. I've pulled the plug on bears and switching over to lions and bobcat. I'll start up a new thread for the felines.

Didn't think I'd run another bear this year, but dogs rigged and me trying to think I know what I'm doing was trying to put my female on a frozen track headed off the road south west, she opened but started going backwards. I was bummed and ran back to my truck and grabbed my Garmin to see that my male was half mile out. Headed in the same direction. I turned my other two makes it and upon walking the track out backwards I could see another bear had walked in the track going the right way. A little over 3 mile chase and Reggie never let the other dogs get closer than a half mile before he treed. I have two tags left for bear so I'll give it my best. They both have lion tags so we'll switch hit on w.e provides itself
