I have been thinking about digging out my old Browning Recurve, and giving archery another shot. This bow has been stored for thirty years, and my concern is it may have deteriorated (delaminated?) over time. Can I tell if there is deterioration by examining the bow, or should I take it to an archery shop? Thanks.

I really don't know, but will be interested in the answer as I have a 1968 Bear Grizzly recurve and I've been considering the same thing. Hope someone has a suggestion. I last shot it in mid 70s.

If you stored your bow unstrung in a climate controlled space, it should be fine. As long as there is no visible damage, I would buy a new string and shoot it.

I have a bear grizzly recurve that is 30+ years old that belonged to my grandpaw. It sat in a corner in his gun room for years unstrung. I bought a new string for it a few years back and it still slings arrows just fine.
