Best Site to Buy Boots

Hey guys what sites do you use to purchase boots? I'm trying to decide between Hanwag, Lowa, or Kenetrek but living in Tennessee it is nearly impossible to find a store that carries them. I love Sierra Trading Post but I've been waiting several months for them to carry my size of Lowa Tibets but haven't had any luck so I guess it is time to look elsewhere. Thanks!

I have used Shoe Buy and Zappos for Lowas simply because it is free shipping both directions and I can walk around on the boots inside and on a treadmill for an hour or two to check the fit. If I don't like them I can send them back. This was my winter project a couple years ago and I went through around a dozen pairs of boots. Shoe Buy very often has 20% to 30% off coupons. I bought my Tibets thrrough Zappos.

+1. I acutally bought my Lowa renegades on clearance from Zappos and got a really good deal on my Tibets from ShoeBuy. I tried to find the receipt but failed. I think I only paid $289 for the tibets. Best time to buy seems to be right around Christmas.

Backcountry.com usually has free shipping. They don't carry Kenetrek, but they have a few models of the Hanwags and Lowas. Looks like most of their Lowa's are 25-30% off right now. I bought a pair of Hanwag Alaskans last summer for about 35%, if I recall correctly. Backcountry.com has awesome service as well.

I just used shoebuy today for some lowa Tibet gtx wides and they have a 20% off sale through 6/29 and free shipping both ways. I was able to find a code online that worked for 25% off and got them right at $285 ($95 off) which I thought was a good deal since it never seems like they're on sale.

Lots of great sites listed here.

Whatever site you decide on make sure you check their return policy on boots. You don't want to be stuck with a pair that doesn't fit and they wont take them back since you wore then around. Some sites listed here are great for trying on and returning boots, but there are others out there that will stick it to you if your not careful.

I quit buying boots online. Too many just don't fit well. Athletic shoes usually are ok for me, but boots really don't seem to do well for me. I usually go to one of the big name stores (Cabelas, Sportsman's Warehouse or local sporting goods stores and try them one using the socks I usually wear while hiking/hunting. Got tired of sending boots back and eating the return postage/insurance.

It seems like it is really tough in the Midwest to find stores that carry more than one brand and a few models of high quality boots. I agree, it would be really nice to try on a few different pairs in one afternoon and walk around the store in them. I was just at Cabelas yesterday and their selection was dismal. The Scheels in town only has Kennetrek for high end boots.

Shoebuy and Zappos both have free shipping both ways, so still a huge pain to go through multiple returns but an option at least. If you have the coin you could also order 5-6 pairs and return all but the one you like and have your own little boot store for a week at home. Be a lot like fronting money for tags and then getting the refund, without the 3 month wait.
