To all my Zirkel Hunters:

Man I love this wilderness... Let's hear some success and failure stories on both deer and elk. If you are against the Zirkel's, what is a better wilderness hunt in CO?

I have hunted up there for some time now and have learned a lot of country! Love the ruggedness of the area and how the elk pockets are LOADED with rut crazed bulls. I have seen some good numbers of muleys scouting multiple times, just haven't put the efforts in for a deer up there

Ya I have been up there scouting and seems like it is way up by the Big Creek Lakes, on up to Wyoming. Plenty of wilderness that is free. Quite the blaze!

How bad is the beetle kill as it looks bad from a distance. Hate when the wind blows with some snow and those damn trees just start falling everywhere!! Very Dangerous!

I didn't know how bad the Wilderness was affected as I only have seen from Independence Mtn. Which I see now is burned up. Last week it was only on NW edge and now looks like the whole Mountain and points East have started burning.

West side seems to have more than the East, but still a lot deadfall throughout the entire wilderness unless you are above treeline. Makes hunting and packing out less than ideal!
