I think I will just set the parallax adjustment on the scope to infinity and call it good.
Am I going to cause my self problems down the road for elk and deer hunting?

No, most factory settings for scopes without the adjustments are set at 100 yards for big game rifles and 50 yards for 22's.

It would be best to set the parallax setting for a distance that be in the middle of the possible shots you anticipate.
For example if you think your shots will be between 100 and 300 yards you should set the dial for parallax correction at 200 yards. Set it at this setting and forget it.

Parallax becomes more pronounced at magnifications above 9x and as distances increase. Its not going to cause much of an aiming error regardless of the power setting and parallax setting under 300 yards.

If you have time during a longer range shot it is advisable to dial out the parallax.
