Good evening ladies and gents,

I can't seem to find what I'm really wanting to see/hear/evaluate on the good old www so I thought I'd ask the experts. I am moving to Kemmerer, WY in 6 weeks and kinda have an itch for a new optic for my western rifle. I currently have a leupold 4.5-14X40 b&c on a savage 116 .300 Win Mag. It's a fantastic scope and gives me the hold overs I need to 500 yds which is farther than I care to send them most of the time. I cant help but wonder though is the Zeiss Conquest with the rapid Z 600 reticle might be a better choice? I like the idea of 50 yard corrections, and 25 yard intervals from 5-600 yds. Is this one that comes recommended from all of you experts?

Look forward to good discussion.

Cheers,

Plainsman

NO expert but I have three of the Of the 3x15 with target turrets with the Kenton custom turret for the bullet and speed.Havent tried any of the Rapid Z reticles yet.So far flawless on my 300wsm and 257 Weatherby to 500 yards on antelope,-15 degree weather on a deer hunt, and numerous other hunts.Very clear, simple to use, fairly lightweight, and like it better then my Leupolds and yes would buy them again.

Plainsman,
Here are my 2 cents: The Zeiss scope you need would have the Z 800 reticle, not the Z 600.
The Z-800 is for the .300 win mag.
The Conquest HD5 in a 3-15 x 50 with the Z-800 is all you need. Its a great scope!
So after you have selected the best ammo for your rifle, just "play" with the Zeiss calculator and it will give you the range in 100 and 50 yard increments. It will also give you a recommended magnification. Beware that any magnification change from the recommended one will change the bullet impact position. Hope this helps.

I love my Rapid-z reticle. Very accurate and dependable for me so far.

I have 2 Zeiss HD5 3-15x50. 1 on a Rem 700 300 win mag and 1 on a Weatherby Accumark 257 mag. Love them! The Zeiss calculator for the smart phones is simple and correct. You just need actual velocity and bullet characteristics and the ballistic drop is extremely accurate.

Thanks all, think I'm going to have to try one! It just seems like the perfect optic for those who don't like twisting knobs.

I have 2 zeiss scopes and I love them. I also have a Leupold scope and it rivals the zeiss conquests that I have.
