I am debating entering the draw mainly for my son that is 14. He is big into football and would never consider missing a week during season. His last football game is November the 2nd. I notice most all seasons end October 31st. I have looked and a few units extend any antelope into November. I know they are all listed as limited access but have some public access. I am kind of on the wire to make the decision. These are the units I am considering as we have no points and not willing to pay special license for limited access area like these.
109, 1, 2, and 3.
Like last year I am willing to walk and walk a bunch. What I don't know is the antelope hunting any good this late in the year. We would like to get 1 or 2 doe tags as well as a any antelope tag.

Feel free to PM me or post to let me know if I am making a bad decision.

Antelope tend to herd up late in the year so getting close can be challenging depending on the terrain you are in. I understand the football conflict. My senior that just graduated only made it out for one Wyoming hunt during his high school career. One thing you should check into is private land. That late in the year I'm guessing you could find a rancher or two that would let a kid hunt. I would start with a call to some of the game wardens in the areas you are considering. At a minimum, I would start buying him some points for all species while they are cheaper.

What is the odds of any bucks still holding their horns the week of Thanksgiving? This is something that came to mind. Would be willing to hunt doe, but don't know if it would be wise to spend the money for an any antelope tag for me. Do you think it would be a waist of money on the youth any antelope tag at $125.00.

Where I’ve hunted them, I can’t recall seeing any that late. Have seen many drop their sheaths in early Nov. That was MT and SD.

Antelope will start dropping horns in mid to late Nov. We have hunted them in early Nov and they do herd up into wintering groups, big ones. Horns can be pulled off in early Nov though so careful when moving them around. One issue we had was seeing wounded antelope late in the season.Thanksgiving is a little too late for antelope bucks but great for Black Hills deer.

Well we are in the draw. I know a buck holding horns will be risky so I entered him for any antelope and me for doe/fawn. I talked to him about the situation and he said he would be happy just to get to go. So we will have a great trip.
