Great forum....I'm tore up with elk hunting. Been to N.M. And Wyoming so far, tired of whitetails. Nothing compares to elk. Looking for a wilderness elk hunt in Wyoming in 2018. I find myself using n this forum non stop...lol

Welcome to the forum. I have found that elk hunters come from all ages and geographic areas. I have a professional hunter (PH) that comes over here to the states every year from South Africa to hunt them. And that is with all that he can hunt over there.

Yep, just different animals.

If I could afford it I would be over in South Africa every year. They say that once you go over to hunt you'll be back.

I understood that once I went over.

I was in South Africa in July, shot a Zebra, Kudu, Gemsbok, Warthog and a Vervet monkey...It was a great hunt, but would rather elk hunt.

Did you do a spot and stalk hunt or hunt from a blind?

Mine were all spot and stalk and the first day out I thought that I was hunting elk in the cedars. All my African animals were taken in the hill country, you can read the story down in the Other forum.

Spot and stalk for 2 days then did a blind hunt. It's crazy the amount of animals you see in a weeks time.

Welcome to the forum Prez ! I've lived out west Idaho and Nevada for 18 years and am in Southern NJ now . Draw odds for Nevada have now become impossible or near impossible for Mountain goat and Big horn .
