From what I have read and heard the cow was not anywhere near the calf. Now whether she had a problem with the birth or was off feeding somewhere and the calf didn't follow who knows. Even from what the article says when they returned the calf back to the location they didn't say if there were other bison in the area.

But these tourist were a couple of Disney watching idiots that figure that a wild animal in a park is tame and that they needed to help it survive since it appeared cold. They are just lucky the the cow wasn't near them or else we would be reading about a couple of tourist that were trampled to death by a bison.

That is what I have heard also. They were not from USA I think it said. Maybe they got a free buffalo chip in their rental. A nice juicy one. How did they catch it? I have a hard time with moo cow calves I can't imagine a bison calf. Well now they are famous. The new natural selection.

It's hard to believe that these people thought they were doing the right thing, but that's what you get when people who know nothing about the outdoors and wildlife start exploring it. ( Common Sense Not Required To Visit Yellowstone NP)

Wow is all I can say. My wife and I will be up in Yellowstone next week. Wonder if we can get our own pet bison calf.....NOT! What would have been really great was if the calf left a few fresh pies in there rented SUV. Try to explain that to the rental place.

The sad thing is this doesnt even surprise me or shock me when i saw the news report about it...The things you see living just south of yellowstone for 5 years, really makes you wonder if humanity is gonna make it...I will say, its usually a certain nationality that thinks the buffalo are just big cows, and they come everyday in multiple coach buses by the hundreds with their cameras...Its the definite downside to living in such an amazing area

Just read that park officials had to euthanize the calf because the herd rejected it. What a sad situation, people need to educate themselves!

When I worked out there someone asked me,"what were all the red dogs that were following around the bison?" It took me a second to realize what they were talking about. I think the same people in these stories and on the news are the same people running this country. Just dumba$$e$ with no flipping common sense. Oh and they can vote...they shouldn't be allowed to breed.

I read the samething and saw they received a $110 fine for touching wildlife. What is the fine now that the animal had to be euthanized.....
