Well it is booked. Told the wife I would take her to Niagara Falls for our 30th anniversary this year. She said she would rather take a trip with our boys(26 and 15). So I pitched her on a trip to Yellowstone and she bit. Flying into Salt Lake and renting a truck for a little over a week trip. So for the third year in a row after my first trip to Wyoming I find myself heading back.
I love to hunt and fish so the question is. Should I plan to fish on the trip? If so where and how? I can fish with fly rod, but prefer ultra light rod and reel. So open to advice.

If you change your mind and you end up going to Niagara falls, do yourself a favor and go to the Canada side. Trust me.

Also, Learn Japanese and Chinese before you go. lol

Flying may put a kink in that. I am not sure people would approve of my 45 year old fly rod.
so what ??? folks these days spend waaayyy to much time worrying about what others will approve of.

personally, I disapprove of the existence of most , but have somehow managed to tolerate yall.;)

We went to Yellowstone 2 years ago, awesome trip. We bought the 3 day fishing pass and had a blast, didn't do worth a crap in the park but between the park and Cody is the Shoshone River, we stayed in a camp ground right on the river and fished it, had a blast. Caught a few fish, probably could have done better but didn't want to go up or down stream too far from camp with the bears in the area. Have fun!

PS were heading to Niagra Falls this summer on the way to Cooperstown! Cant wait. Luke

June may have high water, lake fishing may be easier.
Tourist season will be getting in full swing, look into lodging at Old Faithful now, it's probably booked though.
Go see the museum in Cody.
Visit Thermopolis and do the hot springs.
Bring a jacket, snow may not be over yet up high.

Was a great trip to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. I did not do very well fishing but also did not spend much time. Fish jumping all around my fly, but they would not even attempt to bite. My fly looked just like what they were eating. The high light was floating the Snake River with my two sons. The area is a gift from God.
