I am new to the forum and look forward to learning from all of you. A few friends of mine and I drew a tag for unit 78 and have a few places in mind. I was just wondering if someone has hunted the area and can tell me something about access into some of the public sections we are looking at. The local game warden Biff was very helpful when we were applying but he must be quite busy no since we can't get a hold of him. We have map software that says what areas are public and kind of shows where the wilderness area boundaries are but I'm really curious about some of the roads. You can only tell so much from satellite and maps. I would just like to run a few ideas by someone with local knowledge so we don't get blindsided when we get there by not being able to access an area we have been looking at.

Welcome to the forum. I have no experience with that area, but I'm sure someone on here will have some knowledge of the area. Good luck on your hunt!!

Hello,

I grew up in Laramie and have a lot of experience in that area. Feel free to send me a PM with any questions you have and I will try to help. Deer numbers are way down but you can still have a decent hunt I believe.

Either that or have a GPS with landownership status chip along with a map from the county to show what roads are publicly maintained and that you have a legal right to travel. Many roads that show on regular maps are not legal to access public land they touch or go through, so know before you go! Trust me on this because I've hunted Wyoming most every year for over 20 years.

Thank you, that's what I'm trying to avoid, I have a few different types of mapping software that demarcate public and private land but none will tell me whether the roads cutting through private land are accessible. I assume and numbered roads should be fair game but I don't want to assume anything. I appreciate the insight.
