Hi guys

This is my very first post ever on a hunting blog. I drew a unit 75 antelope tag in Wyoming. I have never hunted antelope before and I am looking for any help or advice you guys would be willing to give up. Just point me in a direction.....

If I am fortunate enough to actually kill one I will post where it was killed and will certainly pay it forward and try to help the next guy!

Thanks in advance for any help!

Mike

I don't think you'll have any trouble finding access or antelope in that unit. Just the usual, practice shooting, come prepared, and have fun.

If I'm going to hunt the opener, I like to arrive a couple days early to get camp set up and do some scouting. Also, the hunt doesn't feel so quick if you tag out the first day that way.

Was in that unit last year, plenty of goats around, and I didn't get into any of the good stuff due to moisture. Was there last week in Sept, didn't run into another hunter the whole time (was nice)

I work in that unit a fair amount. Sight your rifle in at 100 yards, know how low you are at 200 yards and 250 yards. The unit is about 75-80% public land and literally you can drive down the road and see hundreds of Antelope. Go prepared with camp, coolers, and ice. If the roads are in good shape take some time to drive back off the oil a ways, there are some toads up there still.
As a buddy of mine says you can't swing a dead cat up there without hitting an Antelope.
Good luck!

Had that tag in 2010 and shot a real nice buck, 79 7/8 inches. Don't rush it, its a 100 % hunt for a buck. Hold off a shoot a big one. I didn't shoot mine until Oct 4th or so and saw another buck that was bigger than mine but screwed up on him.
good luck, I wish I had that tag again.

Sorry faskill, I shot my buck in 74 across the road but it should be about the same or better in 75.

Same here. Don't shoot the first buck you see....or the first 25. Take your time and look!
Good advice Cowboy, it applies in every unit in Wyoming. I've seen plenty of good Bucks in #75. Plenty of moisture this year and plenty of feed, good horn growth as well. Antelope hunting is looking good for a change.

Wow! Thanks guys for all the POSITIVE responses! I'm even more excited about the hunt now than I was before!

As far as shooting and camping......I'm ready! I will also get there a few days early and scout. I was planning on going out in late August to scout but with the information you guys have provided I don't think there will be any need for that!

I will keep you posted on my success!

Honestly...... thanks again for all the help!

Boy you guys are a tough bunch! I'm not very computer savvy so I struggled to get this picture up. Hopefully it worked.

Anyway...I shot him with my grandpa's old circa. 1950's-60's Herters 30-06 rifle. He had shot many animals out west with this rifle and it was awesome to kill my antelope with his gun!

The hunt was spot and stalk. I sat on a hill and watched a herd of 40 antelope in a sage flat. They ate they chased they called to each other heck I even watched a buck breed a doe numerous times! It was just an awesome experience! I shot him at 217 yards with a 180 Nosler partition bullet. One shot one kill......."Faskill" ;-)

Thanks again for all your help!
