hello all I am a nonresident hunter wanting to cash in my 5 points this year for my 50th birthday present to myself. I have several questions that maybe some of you may be able to help me with. First how was the weather this year in unit 32 this year. Did the herd take a beating or am I ok. I chose this area because of the abundance of public land without checkerboarding and its proximity to a large town for lodging and supplies since i dont camp and the likelihood of drawing with 5 points. Its my understanding that the residents like it for the same reasons. I have purchased the onx app for wyoming and have found it very valuable so far in my scouting. Also I would be apreciative if someone could explain the reduced price doe fawn thing is that for the first draw or is that something that i have to wait for the leftover draw ? I once saw a video on youtube about the process and now i cant find it for some reason. Also if someone can recomend a meat locker in the casper area or the douglas area that would be great. also looking at the possibility of doe hunting in either unit 29 or 42 for future years because my buddy has 4 points but he can not go this year but is willing to share his points with me in a future year. Also looking for recomendations on a pack for hauling out my quarters. thanks in advance for any info that you can contribute.

You apply for the reduced price tags at the same time as full priced tags. They're separate drawings. Points only count towards the full price drawing.

I packed out two antelope does in a day pack (boned out). If you shoot a buck that you want to mount, you don't want to drag it as the hair comes of easily. For that, either grunt it out and carry it, use a game cart, or cape it out on site. If you apply for doe tags, there is a box to check to indicate if you still want the doe tags if you don't draw the buck tags. Either way, it doesn't affect the buck draw.

From what I've seen, the herds around Casper did OK this winter. No winter kill to speak of. If you want to get good/current information call the Casper G&F office and ask to speak to a biologist or Warden. (307) 1-473-3400.
