My hunt starts in region E tomorrow. Trying to get to Jeffrey City today to scout and be ready to hunt in the morning. Right now we?re stuck in Cheyenne. We got caught in the blizzard last night. I-80 is closed and I-25 doesn?t look good. Do they put salt out the interstates in Wyoming? We?re thinking heading north to Casper to get to Jeffrey City is our best bet for getting there now. I?m just wondering how long it?s gonna take for the roads to clear up. Any input would be appreciated.

Thank you

Greg

I 80 won't be open till later today, maybe, likely tomorrow.
Best bet is Casper, 220 to Muddy Gap, then to JC.

Be safe, good luck, and God bless!!

Roads are opening, watch out for the big rigs, they will not be going slow.
Should get everything open soon if wind stays down. Wyoming doesn't use much salt, sand and some ice slicer mix I think. We had rain first so ice under the snow is the problem this morning. Check WYDOT and the webcams along the highways.
Gonna be a cold opening day.

Thanks for the replies. I got the WY DOT app. You know how to do it right. That app is great. I can’t believe how many cameras are out there. It was a great help. We ended up taking I-25 up to Casper. We finally made it to Jeffrey City by 2:30 on Sunday. Which, didn’t give us much time to scout since our first spot was an hour drive. We made it up to at least get a look. I definitely underestimated those rock formations.

We did have a successful hunt on opening. I shot my first mule deer, and my dad got his at the end of the day. I’ll post another thread for the story.

Thanks again everyone for your help.

We can control many things-but not the weather-amazing we have all these cameras and things networked together to help us along.

What did the guys do 30 yrs ago before all this technology? [emoji38]

Congrats on the hunt!

Just looked at the weather reports and went. I remember lots of trips when we were not prepared for the weather and just dealt with it. Today it is so much better!

As CC said, we just went. Didn't always work out so great though. One time we hit black ice while pulling a 4-horse trailer with about a dozen other cars in close proximity ... there was stuff sliding everywhere. What a circus :)
