Wyoming Region J

Heading to WY to hunt mulies in Region J this fall. 1st time hunting in WY and looking for any info or tips for the region. Any hunt area to avoid or better than the others? Any special rules or regulations to be aware of? Camping restrictions? Have hunted CO, MT and AZ but never WY before. Any and all information will be most appreciated. Thanks.

Region J is mainly private. Do you have private access? Hunting with an outfitter?

Don't have any private access and not hunting with an outfitter. Just asking questions to make sure I don't do anything illegal or piss anyone off as this is my first hunting trip to WY. Being a non-resident I do not want to fall into the category of "slob hunter" or anything of that nature. Bagging an animal is second to experiencing the great outdoors.

Your public opportunities will be very limited. There are some spots a person can gain access but you will have company. My best advice to you is to try to obtain some private land access. There are a few ranches north of Laramie that charge a trespass fee. I looked into this a couple years ago but never went so I'm not sure what quality they offer. Call the Laramie game and fish regional office to see if they have a landowner list for you to call.
