Picked up a leftover tag in the 2nd draw. A friend has some land that is north east of Hulett that I can hunt white tails on. I see there is blm and state land all over from the Montana border down to Newcastle that I can hunt in units 1-6. I have all of November off for rifle hunting. I will be taking off work for the opener to try and get a buck down in velvet. I would love to go after a mule deer in velvet. I have a couple days this month to drive over to scout, set up cameras and tree stands. If there weather is anything like here finding water sources will be the key. If anyone else picked up a tag or will be around that area let me know.

That sounds fun. No Wyoming stuff for us this season. Impatiently waiting on SD to release draw results. We will hunt archery for the first time West River this year regardless.. Very excited.

WY Private.jpg

Alright so this is some private land in WY that I am able to hunt. There is about 200 acres. This is for whitetails. I blacked out the info at my friends request since it's his dad's land. The 3 purple dots are where I will put tree stands. There is a 2 track that goes through the property along with a county rd on the east side. The top area by the purple dot is a spring fed pond that should have water in it, as hot as it's been I think it might be my best bet. I am going tomorrow to set everything up along with cameras to scout this month. Then go and glass some public land for mule deer as well. Any advice on this spot would be greatly appreciated. Wind is out of the NW usually. I am betting the bedding areas are to the south of the acreage, then large fields to the west where they feed at night. I am thinking it will be a morning sit only on their way back to bed due to the wind going straight down to them in evening.

If you're hunting the Nov opening there will be no velvet, they rub off in Sept. Find a well used trail and set stands for either wind direction.
