I'm heading out to unit 21 in October and was hoping for some pointers on public access in unit 21. I've got GPS maps with bonderies but as you know its nothing like boots on the ground. Any info will be great. Not looking for a book animal but just a good time with friends and Family. Also be hunting deer in region M east of 434. Thanks Ryan

If you have a map and a GPS with land ownership boundaries, you shouldn't have any problems. The southern/southeastern part of unit 21 is your best bet. The boundary is three county roads and there are two or three county roads that go up north through the unit off of them, as well as trails off all the county roads into the BLM land. If you go the first week, be prepared to see a lot of orange. I hunt Region M every year and you'll need to be on a ranch east of 434 or be very lucky because most of the BLM in M has very few deer, as most have now moved into areas that are irrigated. That's why tags were cut by 1/3 last year and even with that cut there are still a bunch of leftover tags. They have also eliminated all public land doe tags and even cut the private land tags down quite a bit this year. Good luck and be safe out there!

Hey thanks for the info. Sounds like its tuff times in M but will make the best of it. I planed on tent camping on BLM land. I looked into one tresspass fee but $1000-$2000 is just to much money. Two years ago I did a self guided hunt in Custer National forest in MT and that area was hit hard also but we made do and everyone but my self tagged out. Hey thanks again Topgun for the info! Ryan
