I agree that it would be nice to eliminate machines from the out of doors but they are a reality and you can't stuff the genie back in to the bottle.

I own a 4 wheeler but it's my mini-tractor and do-everything tool. I do use it for hunting and scouting but most of the time I use it for collecting fire wood and other chores around the house.

One of the things that I've seen around here is people coming from out of state, buying a hunting cabin on a small plot of land, and then claim residency to get a resident tag for their 4 wheeler. At least they are buying the tag, even if they are cheating the system in order to get the cheaper price.

Not to change the subject but they tried doing that here in Colorado also. They tried using property records and utility receipts but it don't work. Colorado goes by drivers licenses mostly there are a couple of others but I can't tell you off of the top of my head. If you have a out of state DL then you are a non resident, they don't care how much property you have or where you pay your utility bills. Are you sure that Montana isn't the same way? I know that Utah, and Arizona, and Wyoming are that way when you set up your sportsman's ID.

If you do find a way around the system and get caught you are in for a bunch of problems.

Claiming residency to get hunting/fishing licenses and related stamps and ORV stickers gets you into very EXPENSIVE problems with the State & G&F.

,Maybe someone here can clarify my research from the USFS website....In looking into my Wyoming ORV permit I read 2 things. You need a permit to operate on "trails" but not FS roads. You can not operate an ORV over 50" on trails. My RZR is over 50" wide, so my take is that I will not be able to operate my RZR on said "trails" but I need nothing to operate on the FS roads as they will accept my PA registration.

I blew mine off of the buggy last week with the pressure washer.

Doesn't look like I'll be cruising the trails with the wind blowing through my hair any longer this year anyhow.HA!

If Wyoming checks stickers like a lot of other states do there would be no problem driving your buggy anywhere you want.
