Wondering if anyone has been out to wyoming lion hunting, got my own hounds just wondering if anyone has any information. Was kinda looking at big horns around Sheridan. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Never been lion hunting. There is a good population of cats down in the Snowy Range by Laramie. I saw one on the back of a truck Thursday.

The Snowy Range is all national forest. I don't know when mountain lion season runs. There is a lot of snowmobiling that happens here.
Hey thanks! I'll check into it. If you ever want a lion let me know, we have the hounds just need the lion track!! It sure is a lot of fun, and is alot of work witch makes it unforgettable.
I would assume you are talking about west of Laramie? Highway 130 is the line between unit 31 and 7 which is open year around.

Yes to the west of Laramie. My cousin's husband has a friend who runs dogs over by Encampment which would be area 9, they have pretty good luck. The only problem with area 9 is the ridiculous non-resident wilderness rule.
If I'm looking correctly the Huston park wilderness area looks pretty small. Do they have a lot of snow now?

We just got back from hunting in unit 7. I was the first time we ever did it. We were out there 1/18/14. the one thing I would tell you is get the Wyoming chip for your gps and a map with all the Blm and state forest on it. We got out there and at 8000 ft there was over 6 feet of snow in the trees the lower land had all the animal down with little snow on it but the snow blows so hard and melts down lower that it's hard to find tracks. We got lucky and had one day of snow and it wasn't windy the next day. So we treed one lion was the coolest thing I've ever done. Now I'm hooked looking a cat dogs to run bobcat in MN with and keep going out there to do that again. If you go out there interested in how your hunt went.

I'm from New York Mills. We have a local coyote hunt this weekend, we got 2 on Friday 4 yesterday and 2 so far today. Been awesome hunting they are so yarded up. Breeding season so were we find two we find four!!
That is a great week end. We didn't hunt yesterday but we got 2 on Friday missed the third and 2 on Saturday. I think we could do better if the group would get up earlier and push it a little harder. Lots of time we don't start jumping till after 12:30. So drives me a little nuts because I just want to get going. I love doing the work to get dogs going and I'm sort of the tracker too. With the Gps there is one other guy with a tracker in the group. So it makes it interesting when there running trying to get to a spot to shot and keeping track of dogs and trying to help others in the group get in the right direction to kill the coyote. I got one on Saturday with my AR. The Dogs have been catching the yots a lot. If I did this right here a pic from one day last year. I'm on the left and the kid on the far right with his glasses on just started teaching in New York Mills from our group.
