Wyoming Elk unit 84

Hello everyone,
Just trying to find a good elk unit and last night asked Guy on Facebook what units to look into if I draw a general tag. He suggested unit 84 and 85, according to the MRS for Wyoming unit 84 is 0% for public land and poor for public access. Now looking at the maps and of what I have that does not seem to be the case. Is this a printing error in the magazines MRS? I sure believe it is, but would like to make sure from someone else.

If you draw, you will have gobs of time to sort our areas with good public access, so fortunately that is not a problem. Talk to a few of the biologists around early in the game, and you will get some great help. They are on top of growing herds and what areas are accessible by foot or horseback.

Scroll Down to Unit 84- AnyUnit with an * is stated to have mostly private property. Unit 84 seems to have 2 tag options one across the Hwy that is all private and tehn the General Season on Forest.

Also looks to be some Wilderness Area

It is not an error in the MRS. The 84-1 tag you are looking at in the MRS is for private land only. The general tag is for the whole unit which appears to be mostly national forest. Its always best to look up the regs and season for the specific unit and tag type you are interested in hunting.

Ok thanks guys. That does make sense now and I over looked the heading in the magazine. I was only thinking 84 as a general unit and now that you have pointed out that a tag exist as limited draw on private land makes sense that it is 0%. It seems like a guy needs to pick through all the data with a fine tooth comb!
