121 no longer exists....it is now 53 and 54....but assuming that's what u mean, it is a tough hunt. I wouldn't do it without my horses. Covered lots of miles to kill elk. Rode over 8 miles before i started glassing each morning.

Yep, if you haven't looked at the 2014 map showing the realignment they made with the elk units up there, you should do that and then maybe come back and ask about a specific spot in the new units.

The best way to figure out where to backpack in is to find 3 square miles of country that is two miles from any roads. You will find elk and packing out on your back is possible

Also Eastman's MRS is gonna cover the top units Wyoming elk in their MRS each year. They know their home state well.
Yep, and then apply for another unit that has an area like ScottR mentioned that isn't touted in the MRS or Huntin Fool because everyone and their mother-in-law will be applying for those units mentioned, LOL!

I am aware that 121 no longer exists. I have an 53-2 permit. Noticed the situation and that 30 leftover tags were available. Purchased one online when they went on sale. Was not looking for someones honey hole, Just a general idea of what to expect when I get there. Not sure I will make it to scout before season begins. Horses are an option. perfer not to mess with them.

I have to laugh when I read the "not looking for anyone's honeyholes" when guys post on the different websites asking for information. I would hope not, LOL!

I would highly suggest horses...like i said, I will not hunt that specific area without them. It is a solid 8 miles of trail before you even think of looking for elk. BIG country and the bulls will still be way up high no matter how much snow and wind is there in november

Thats fine Topgun 30-06. but if Ive hunted an area I will gladly tell anyone as much information as I can. Most places I hunt are limited Draw units and It will be years before i draw again if I even try the same unit twice. In most cases I would rather see new areas. I hunt all public and the animals dont belong to me. I understand most dont feel that way and i respect that.

I don't think any of us have a problem with helping someone out as much as possible, especially if it's in a real hard to draw area. However, we just had a lengthy discussion about this on another thread recently and I think the consensus was that it should be done my PM or email, rather than out on the open Forum thread.
