Just my $0.02...

In the "value" and "point building" 1/2 dozen or so doe antelope units that were on my researched short list, it seemed there were significantly more applicants in the draw this yr, and as a result, less leftovers than last yr.

Lots of interest and "buzz" on the DIY western hunting gig probably fueling it...

I got my 2nd choice on doe antelope, but the big zero on cow elk-how's the saying go? "You get, what you get; and you don't throw a fit". [emoji6]

I getting to come back this year. Wanted to bring my son which will be 15 time of hunt. He drew any antelope and doe/fawn tag and I drew 2 doe/fawn tags. I did not enter for a any antelope due to a late season trip. I hope a good buck is still holding horns for him.
I am just happy to be coming back this year.

Our group drew our tags for Antelope (113) and Deer (region C). Looking forward to heading back to Wyoming and doing a little fishing before the opener on 1st.

I have put in for some many draws between three states that I need an accountant to keep track of it all... Just tossed my name in the hat for leftover deer in WY. Sounds delicious.

I still believe the trend in increased applicants the past 2 years is due to point burning. Hunting, overall, is down significantly over the past 5-10 years. I believe we'll see a better balance in 2-3 years provided we still have enough public land to hunt.

Makes sense. My friends and neighbors certainly aren't rushing up to me and telling me they just got into hunting. Although, there may be a few folks here in CO that think it only costs three-bucks to go hunting...

I actually see a revival in hunting interest coming but I agree in overall interest the last 5-10 years dropping. People are starting to think about where their food comes from and hunting is a great source of protein. I see the hispters as the biggest opportunity for new hunters. I think it might be good as they will be focused on meat instead of allowing manufacturers to influence the industry like they have for those focused primarily on horns. Likely means more small game and deer hunters looking for meat but won't do much to hurt draw odds on trophy animals.

I believe shows like ALF, life below zero, mountain men, etc have done a lot to show people the food side of hunting which previously was not documented with videos of guys focused on horns, being extreme, and promoting themselves/sponsors.

Nothing to exciting for me this year. Second choice muzzleloader antelope to kick things off in Sept, Whitetail tag in the snowies, a cow tag close to home that runs from August - Jan, plus a few doe tags and general tags. Looking forward to hunting in some new areas.
