I need to decide on a leftover tag in case I don't draw my first choice. I've been looking at General Areas A, B and C. Don't really want to hunt in November in General Area A as I think there may be some decent bucks in northern Wisconsin this fall and I want to bowhunt the rut here. Haven't looked at General Area C much (yet). Looking at B, I see Unit 22 is a limited draw (did that just change and why?), while a Tag exists that includes 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 this year. I've looked at maps and understand 22 has patchwork public access but it looks doable (I do have that app and know how to read a map, lol). And I've read that Unit 10 can be a challenging hunt in the grasslands. But I also notice that Unit 13 has a big chunk of public land. So, any insight would be appreciated as to whether to put all my eggs into Unit 22 or go big with Units 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14. Any ideas what the leftover licenses will be for these two tags? I don't know, but maybe all of these units were a general tag last year?
I have driven on 85/18 north of Lusk and seem to recall a lot of open cattle country (Unit 12 I think)? I do have plenty of time to scout before hunting as I'm moving into that hallowed place called retirement this summer. Physically...I just backpacked the Grand Canyon . Not looking for a trophy, just want to hunt Wyoming this fall as I didn't get an elk permit
