There has been quite a bit of controversy centered around 87. Depending upon who you talk to it likely gets different reviews.
I've spent a great deal of time on one end of the unit and have noticed super bad genetics for large 3 pts. The muledeer tend to be slowly but surely recovering from winterkill followed by severe drought years. The browse in the unit tends to be in horrible shape from drought. If you have lots of time and boot leather you may be able to find a few decent bucks but for the most part you can expect to find small bucks and medium size bucks with poor 3x genetics. There are the exceptions but you'll have to work to find them. With that said, I know an outfitter in the area and he recently mentioned that he isn't taking any muledeer hunters this coming year. He mentioned that he felt guilty guiding hunters that burned years of pts on a hunt for relatively small bucks.
